August is the month when families try to squeeze in that last minute vacation and the kids head back to school.
I haven’t met a person yet that is ready for summer to end, so between the vacation and the school supply shopping, let’s have some friends and family over for an End of Summer Backyard Party!
What do we need for our Backyard Bash? A Venue, a Menu, Decor and Guests!
There is no better location for your summer soiree than your backyard. Venue √!
Keep the Menu simple and easy by using produce from your own garden or fruits and vegetables you can easily pick up at the farmer’s market – salads, fruit and grilled chicken, steak or burgers. Menu √!
Decor doesn’t have to fancy and fussy to be beautiful. Cut fresh flowers from your yard and display in mason jars or pitchers. Hang lights over your deck, on your patio table umbrella and/or in the trees. Decor √!
Send out a text or FB message to friends and family inviting them to come over for some fun! Guests √!
To keep the party going, plan some life sized outdoor games that will appeal to all ages. Pinterest is a great resource for ideas. Many can be made with items you already have around the house.
Wrap up the evening with smores! Set up a fire pit and a smore’s bar with graham crackers, chocolate and marshmallows in decorative containers. It’s the quintessential ending to any summer night.
