About Staged & Styled

kim-ausbury-400wWhether Kim is redesigning or decorating, the mission is the same. Our homes need to be a refuge, an escape; places of safety, beauty and comfort. Kim has been privileged to help hundreds of homeowners turn their homes into a much beloved and peaceful haven.

Kim has also had the joy of attracting potential homebuyers who can envision themselves living in one of the homes staged by Kim. Before becoming an Accredited Stager in 2004, Kim and her husband moved every two and a half years. Kim took it upon herself to get each of their homes “ready to sell”. Every home sold within a few days of putting it on the market!

Kim believes staying abreast of the latest ideas and market trends in home staging, redesign and decorating is essential to her clients and to her business. For this reason, Kim chooses to take continuing education courses. She also attends industry related conferences, “To The Trade Only” events, as well as the Ohio Design Centre, AmericasMart Atlanta, and the Merchandise Mart in Chicago.

In 2014, Kim became a part of an elite group of stagers by earning the RESA-PRO designation. A RESA-PRO home stager is a dedicated home stager that is held to the highest standards of business, ethics and integrity.

Hiring a home stager with a RESA-PROTM designation is important for homeowners and real estate agents because:

  • You’re hiring a home stager that is a well qualified professional
  • You’re hiring a home stager that is held to higher standards
  • You’re hiring a home stager that is held to a higher ethics standard
  • You’re hiring a home stager that has been in business for at least one year
  • You’re hiring a home stager that is insured with a home staging business insurance policy
  • You’re hiring a home stager that is committed to continuing education so they can use the latest home staging techniques

As one of the first ASPs (Accredited Staging Professionals) in the State of Ohio and subsequently, in Northeast Ohio, Kim’s experience and knowledge far surpass any other stager in this region. Kim’s work has been seen on prestigious home tours, featured on the cover of the Kids’ Directory, the Buzz Book, and is also showcased in “The Idiot’s Guide To Staging Your Home”. Kim has been interviewed on the topic of staging in the Akron Beacon Journal and Hudson Life Magazine. You can also catch Kim on her television appearances on Cleveland’s Fox 8 and WKYC Channel 3, sharing her vast wealth of knowledge with television viewers.

Kim is one of the first 18 Certified Dewey Color Consultants in the world. As a DCCC, Kim understands that color is powerful and impacts each of us differently. Along with her DCCC designation, Kim is also a Certified Color Consultant (ODCCC).

Kim has been trained by renowned faux finisher, Cyndie Stefanik. Ms. Stefanik’s work has been featured in numerous magazines, including Architectural Digest. Kim also completed the Color With No Regrets Certification.

Kim has been privileged to share her color knowledge with Sherwin Williams clients, as well as conducting color seminars for Ace Hardware. With her extensive color training, Kim can create successful color palettes that are individualized and fabulous!

In addition to her local accolades, Kim was selected to present on the fundamentals of running a design business (Paperwork, Pricing, Partnering and Profits) at the national annual education conference of The Society of Decorating Professionals in Phoenix, Arizona.

The ASID (American Society of Interior Designers) chapter of Cuyahoga Community College has invited Kim to speak on Redesign. “This was such a great experience! It was so nice of them to invite me to address their talented group of graduating designers”, commented Kim.

Kim has furthered her education by completing the requirements to become the only APSD Stager Pro in the state of Ohio! She also completed the Certified Eco Professional training. With the CEP designation, Kim can advise homeowners on energy efficient, “green” home improvement ideas.

Kim also understands the value of membership to professional organizations such as:

  • Society of Decorating Professionals (SDP)
  • The Decorating and Staging Academy (DSA)
  • The Association of Property Scene Designers (APSD)
  • The Real Estate Staging Association (RESA)
  • The Home Staging and Redesign Association (HSRA)

Kim has had the privilege of helping homeowners and business owners discover the untapped potential of their spaces. However, she says that true joy comes when she is able to donate her talents to causes that grab her heart. The Barnabas House was one of those endeavors. Kim, along with a fellow designer, decorated the Barnabas House for missionary families who are home on furlough from their global service. The teacher’s lounge at Chapel Hill Christian School also received a makeover courtesy of the Hope Committee and the decorating talents of Kim. Kim also gives freely of her time and talents to school fundraisers, women’s events and trade shows.
